Special agent FBI Kyle Armstrong said at the Crypto Evolved conference in New York that the agency is investigating many “crypto-currency” crimes, including trafficking in human beings, drug operations, kidnapping, and extortion.

According to the representative of the agency, approximately 10% of drug users around the world buy “doses” online through digital currencies.

In some regions of the United States, there is also an increase in extortion schemes, where criminals use crypto-currencies.

These 130 investigations constitute a “small part” of thousands of cases that are still unknown to the FBI.

And unlike crimes related to fiat means, where it is possible to identify criminal transactions, operations with crypto-currencies are anonymous, and they are difficult to track.
