It turned out that it would not be possible for customers to directly pay bitcoin in the coffee shops of the network, however, visitors will be helped to change the existing cryptocurrency to US dollars before buying.
Yesterday we reported that, within the framework of cooperation with Microsoft and the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the Starbucks coffee shop will soon provide customers with the opportunity to pay with bitcoins.
Today, representatives of Starbucks denied this information, saying that it would not be possible for customers to directly pay bitcoin in the network’s coffee shops, however, visitors will be helped to change the existing cryptocurrency to US dollars before buying.
The press service of Starbucks noted:
“Buyers will not be able to pay frappuccino by bitсoin. Probably, the Bakkt exchange will allow us to convert bitcoins into American dollars, which can be spent in our coffee shops. At the moment we are working only on trading and exchange bitcoin, but we will discuss further actions with customers and regulators as the industry develops. ”
Recall, Starbucks and several other large companies are participating in the Bakkt project, a platform that allows users to trade digital assets, or store them in a single ecosystem.
