And the volume of funds transferred via the Lightning Network (LN) increased by 288% – a record number of bitcoins passed through LN on July 21 (100 BTC).

Let’s remind, Lightning Network is a payment protocol that operates over the blockchain bitcoin and allows you to conduct instant transactions between the participating nodes. LN is positioned as a solution to the problem of scaling bitcoin. The Lightning Network consists of nodes and bidirectional payment channels. The payment channel is established between two nodes of the network. Each of the two nodes of the payment channel blocks some bit of funds for the channel in the bitcoin blockchain. In the future, the bandwidth of the channel will be composed of the number of funds blocked by the nodes.

LN since the beginning of 2018 has received a powerful impetus for development, despite the relatively small amount of Lightning-node. Many experts call this decision a “saving circle” for bitcoin.
